Con la sua nuova canzone e video musicale autodiretto Midnight Sky, Miley Cyrus sta inaugurando una nuova era estetica, una hit che colpisce per il ritorno al glamour e alla ribellione della fine degli anni ’70. Cyrus, si è ispirata alle sue icone rock femminili Joan Jett, Debbie Harry e Stevie Nicks. (Il singolo di Nicks del 1981, “Edge of Seventeen“, è stato campionato per il brano di Cyrus).
