Dopo il successo di “King”

‘Starstruck’ è il nuovo singolo di Years & Years, uscito per Polydor Records. Dopo l’amatissimo album “Palo Santo”, questo nuovo singolo segna il ritorno degli Years & Years ed arriva dopo che Olly Alexander, frontman della band, ha recitato con il ruolo di attore protagonista nella miniserie britannica campione d’incassi, “It’s A Sin”.

Lo status di superstar di Olly Alexander è aumentato a dismisura con “Starstruck”, che, già etichettabile come un instant-classic degli Years & Years, si pone come un inno per le connessioni umane (ed il cosmo).

Per quanto riguarda “Starstruck”, Olly ha detto:
“ci siamo riuniti una notte in uno studio nella campagna londinese. Non ricordo sinceramente l’ultima volta che ho visto così tante stelle, purtroppo vivendo in città uno si abitua a non vederle più. Da quando tutti si è fermato per la pandemia, tutto quello che vorrei fare è uscire e ballare, quindi ho messo tutta questa mia energia nella canzone. “Starstruck” parla della fretta che hai quando ti trovi con qualcuno di cui sei veramente preso emotivamente, riguarda la voglia di non lasciar scappare un bel momento. Come molti di voi ho passato l’ultimo anno in casa, ed ho quindi voluto creare qualcosa super positivo e spensierato per le persone (per me pure). Ovunque siamo durante il percorso della vita o qualsiasi cosa stiamo facendo, credo che tutti ci meritiamo almeno 3 minuti di ecstasy interstellare.”

Gli Years & Years hanno pubblicato in tutto 2 album, “Communion”, uscito nel 2015 ed il cui singolo “King” ha ottenuto numeri importantissimi anche in Italia e “Palo Santo” nel 2018. Vincitori del BBC Sound Of 2015, l’annuale iniziativa degli operatori del settore volta ad individuare i talenti più promettenti in UK, in precedenza spartiacque della carriera di artisti del calibro di Mika, Adele, Ellie Goulding e Sam Smith.
