L’artista alt-pop Carlie Hanson ha pubblicato una nuova traccia e un video intitolato “Off My Neck“. In tipico stile Carlie, il singolo è una canzone pop orecchiabile, anche se “Off My Neck” ha un significato più profondo, Carlie incanala la frustrazione di un’amicizia inacidita sia nel testo che nei suoni della canzone. Il video musicale, diretto da Ryan Baxley, è sullo sfondo di una vista panoramica di Los Angeles mentre Carlie si esibisce con testi come “you said the city wouldn’t change you / look at the monster that it made you.”
“Off My Neck” parla della perdita di un’amicizia e di come vuoi sfuggire al tuo stesso cervello solo per smettere di pensarci, specialmente quando è qualcuno che pensavi sarebbe stato nella tua vita per sempre“, ha detto Carlie.
Oggi, sabato 14 agosto, Carlie si esibirà in uno spettacolo tutto esaurito al The Moroccan Lounge di Los Angeles, che è anche il suo primo spettacolo da headliner dall’inizio della pandemia. Suonerà “Off My Neck”, i brani preferiti dai fan e le canzoni del suo secondo EP, DestroyDestroyDestroyDestroy, che ha totalizzato oltre 53 milioni di stream dalla sua uscita nell’ottobre 2020. Carlie ha anche collaborato con la piattaforma di shopping ultra-hip Depop intorno a “Off My Neck” con uno speciale omaggio per i fan annunciato all’inizio di questa settimana esclusivamente sulla pagina Depop di Carlie. La collezione di 25 articoli, che mette in evidenza gli abiti dei suoi programmi preferiti, video musicali e momenti dietro le quinte.

La ventunenne ha pubblicato il suo EP di debutto, JUNK, a giugno 2019. Prima ancora di compiere 20 anni, era stata in tournée con Lauv, Troye Sivan, Yungblud e altri negli Stati Uniti, in Europa e in Australia, ha firmato un contratto con la Warner Records e rilasciato JUNK.
Nominata artista VEVO DSCVR, Carlie ha anche fan in superstar come Taylor Swift e Demi Lovato. Ha superato 164 milioni di stream globali totali con la sua musica e l’anno scorso si è esibita in The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Attualmente sta lavorando al suo prossimo album di debutto.
